Our Story

Hello! Welcome to our wedding webpage. We are excited to share our story and look forward to celebrating with you all on the beach later this year!

As fate would have it, Katie & Kyle met one winter evening at a favorite watering hole in Royal Oak, MI. Recently having moved to Michigan, Katie was out with a friend getting to know the area more, not knowing Oak City Grille was Kyle's favorite place. Oak City, known as the local Cheers, offered a fun environment for their first interaction and meeting. The friend Katie was with already knew Kyle, and introduced the two when he came over to say hello. After some banter and conversation, they exchanged information and agreed to meet up to watch football the following day. Neither Katie nor Kyle knew if it was a date or just a meet-up with a new friend, but they quickly realized they shared a love for sports, laughter and good company.

A couple months later they were off to Punta Cana for their first trip together and the first meeting of Kyle's family followed the next week at his sister Katharine's wedding (no pressure). Needless to say they had everyone talking as most people didn't know of Katie's existence until that point!

Over the course of the next year or so, they enjoyed a number of trips, internationally and domestically, meeting friends and family in various parts of the country along the way. Their shared love for travel and each other became apparent as the months went on. Bailey, Katie's yellow-lab, also made it very known Kyle wasn't going anywhere and had claimed the title of her favorite fetch-buddy.

In August of 2020, Kyle & Katie traveled to Seattle so Kyle could experience more of where Katie grew up. They spent the week with Katie's mom (Linda) and brother (Peter), playing golf and sitting poolside enjoying the Chelan beauty and summer weather. A couple of days before they were to head back to Michigan, Kyle and Linda were cooking up a proposal that Katie was completely clueless to. It involved a visit to her favorite vineyard after they all played a round of golf. Peter was to run interference if Katie became suspicious and he did a good job when a couple of suspect events occurred.

While enjoying the scenery and wine at Tildio Winery under their famous willow tree, Kyle proposed to a very surprised Katie with Linda and Peter close by (and a few friendly strangers!). It was a beautiful moment and day, and very special to share it with Linda & Peter as well.

A destination wedding was instantly what Kyle & Katie wanted to do - bringing everyone together for an adventure sure to be full of memories, fun & a good time! We look forward to celebrating with you in Mexico!

Love, Katie & Kyle
